  As a JW did you ever date in secret?

  did you ever date a dub-ya or a nondub in secret while active?

  i did, with a ms who said we had to keep our relationship on the down low 'cause he was being considered for the big e and he didn't want the brothers and the c.o to quesiton his personal life, now that's code for 'i don't want the elders to know i'm making out on non-meeting nights!

I did, with a MS who said we had to keep our relationship on the down low 'cause he was being considered for the big E and he didn't want the brothers and the C.O to quesiton his personal life, now that's code for 'I don't want the elders to know I'm making out on non-meeting nights! The only reason I fell for that bull was because he was a great kisser and he was passed over for Elder before and it really bothered him so I kept my mouth shut. Little did I know he was telling a good friend of mine the same sob story. Yep, the snake was dating us at the same time. After he got his JW promotion we both found out and dumped his two timing ass. So much for Elders are princes appointed by holy spirit - I think not! - V Sky

  What TV shows were you told not to watch as a JW ???

  it got me thinking, about tv shows, anything in particular you were told not to watch, being a little kid in the 70's i do remember hearing shows from the platform that we should not watch.

  Run, in the mid 80s the show "Amen" it was a comedy starring the guy who played George Jefferson about a deacon trying to marry off his daughter. It was funny and I loved the sound of the gospel choir! Anyway I kept that hush hush. Also in the late 90s "Will and Grace" - the show cracks me up. An elder mentioned that one from the platform as Satan's way of getting us to lower our moral level - whatever! I'm a straight woman but now I'm hooked on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", wonder what they'd say about that! - V Sky

  What musical groups or songs were bad according to JWs?

  were any specifically mentioned from the platform or were you counseled not to listen to a certain song?

  for me it was the entire def leopard hysteria album - bad heavy metal told it was demonic, i listened to it in secret, silk's "freak me" - a virgin listening to a song about hot sex?

  I forgot Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice Baby", this big headed elder got up on the platform and mentioned the song by name saying that it's code for crack cocaine and encouraging drug use - do they sit around thinking this stuff up? - V Sky

  Amac, are you saying there are rogue C.O's and elders who are stating their own erroneous opinions independent of the WTS? That's why it's called a BODY of elders, as a group they must go with what the Society says to the letter and if they dare step out of line with what the GB directs they are removed. So the damage done to the lives of JWs in individual congregations is not due to 1 or 2 bad elders or C.O's this is an epidemic problem that originates with the source - the WTS. The level of depression, guilt, denial, control by fear is rampant in the worldwide 'brotherhood'. I'm not saying the GB made this sick man pull the trigger but could the high pressure life of a JW lead to this? Absolutely. - V Sky

  I shunned my disfellowshipped mother for 6 months and that moved her to seek reinstatement - I can't tell you how sorry I am about that, worst thing I've ever done. Now she's upset about my 'negative' attitude about the troof. - V Sky

  Cancer tests came back 'normal'

  so that is a major relief.

  still means they don't know what the problem is, but cancer was one of my worst fears.. tomorrow (wednesday, august 27th) is the arbitration in that stupid lawsuit and it will determine the next 20 years of our lives.

  mars, the new moon, my energies are pretty scattered right now and i am just trying to get thru it an hour at a time.. thank you for all the support you have given me thus far and what you will continue to give.

" Anything by Stevie Nicks (she's supposed to be a witch) and no Michael Jackson (He DA'ed) Also Duran Duran's "Union of the Snake" - told it was about Satan, Tears for Fears "Shout" a pioneer said it was about the 1914 war in heaven - I kid you not. Tthe weirdest excuse I was told was an elder warning me about Earth Wind and Fire - They hate JW's we interfere with their demonic show! Anyone else heard something similar about a song they loved? - V Sky

  Special K and Ravyn, I am so sorry for all the pain you've both been through, it's just awful. I wonder if Mackey's wife went to the elders and what they said or did if anything. If the marriage was troubled I wonder what that means. I'm not blaming this poor woman but I'm wondering if she knew her husband had a gun in the house. Also if there was any hint of my mate being unstable I'd be outta there with my child and the elders can go hang. This just makes my blood boil that he took that innocent child with him. - V Sky
